ADD CURB APPEAL WITH YOUR ENTRY DOORS
Entry doors are one of the easiest ways to add curb appeal to your home. The entry doors are the one piece that relates to both the exterior and interior style of your home. A signature entry door is a great first step in creating a home you can be proud of.
FIRST you need to select the material: Wood, Fiberglass or Glass.
SECOND you need to decide how much exposure of glass you want with your entry doors. Windows within the entry doors are referred to as lights. Basically your choices are full, three-quarter, half, side lights (beside the door itself) or no lights.
THIRD is the style. Paneling of a solid wood door is great for a bold color to add pop and personality to your home. Sidelights can increase the sense of size of your entry doors and make a great statement. Glass front is most welcoming and inviting and open to a bold color because there will be less of the color.
FINALLY, you have to pick the color. While the options are endless, here are some guidelines to use. Red is a great contrast color if your home is a lighter shade. Don’t think stop sign red though! Black is a timeless classic with a high gloss finish adding richness to your entry. Neon (maybe lime?) makes an entry door stand out on a darker home in a fresh and stylish way. Stain works especially well on an entry doors that has interesting details that will be highlighted.
